Traveling through our solo traveler’s eyes. Thank you NepalNews for the article. Great reading Nirmala Bhandari Aasmeetaa Thapa Pooja Rijal thoughts on this.
NepaliTravellers strongly condemns recent introduction of a government rule requiring women under 40 years of age to produce ward authorization and family consent for any travel abroad. This proposed rule is a legal violation of individual constitutional rights and is a blatant discrimination towards women that unfortunately reflects the deep-rooted misogyny prevalent in Nepali society. Band-aid solutions, like the proposed rule, demonstrate inability of the Nepali authorities in understanding how organized crimes – including human trafficking – prey upon vulnerable individuals. Requiring approval from husbands or families (read as male relatives) – and authorization from ward officials – is condescending to women and disregards both their capacity and ability to make decisions regarding safety and travel. NepaliTravellers and Hostel Nextdoor, with a team of 5 members left from Kathmandu on January 7 to Hapani, an up north village of Chitwan district, Icchyakamana VDC, Ward no. 2 to distribute 71 sacks full of warm clothes. The collection and sorting done over a period of 2 weeks was for the Chepang community residing in Hapani, 2, Icchyakamana, Chitwan. We were elated to have 4 volunteers join us from SVSI – Sapana Village Social Impact. We are grateful to Mr. Pancha Chepang, Ward Chair of Ichhyakamana, 2 for supporting us logistically on the ground and would like to thank the local residents for being our added support system to bring this year’s Winter Clothing Drive to a conclusion. Prasansha Rimal travels for the first time outside Kathmandu valley to Gorkha-Nuwakot-Palpa-Lamjung. She doesn’t travel to see these places and the physical beauty of it. Mountains and forests don’t always excite her, they rather work as a mirror to see herself better. Prasansha was selected through our collaboration with Women LEAD Nepal, a leadership organization that is committed to building a better world where women leaders co-create the future. Last week we went on a trek to Pikey Peak in Solu district. One of our team member, Pemba Sherpa, had done it second time in 10 days. the first time he went there via Junbesi, he didn’t see any signs leading the trail and there is absolutely nothing(no water, guest houses) from taktor until Jasmane bhanjyang, which is a base for pikey peak I. It is confusing and good chance of getting lost. Locals say , people have gotten lost on these trails. . This time Pemba Sherpa Khambache Pooja Rijal with the help of Ang Phula , local owner of Pikey yak guest house in Jasmane bhanjyang, decided to carry a small paint and mark the trails as we go. This was just a small random initiative but we are surely coordinating with the Ang Phula to have a proper board with more details throughout the trail. . Pikey trail is one of the underrated trails in lower solu khumbu, now dudhkunda nagarpalika, soon it will be become crowded and we request everyone going there to keep the trails Clean and request to carry your trash back. . Happy trekking 😌

Solo Trekking | Manaslu Circuit & Tsum Valley Full video on Youtube: https://youtu.be/MHvYbPWsemU Travelling solo does not mean travelling alone. Along the trail, you meet travellers and locals who are just as fascinated with your stories as you are with their narratives. Travelling is sharing; sharing moments of joy, sadness, misery, and belonging. Angel Shrestha traversed through the mountain landscape of Central Nepal while solo trekking through the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley. Important Message 🚨 Since our last visit to Marble danda we saw a massive flow of people taking pictures, eating and above all, TRASHING! Lots of BEER bottles and plastics. Disclaimer: We took our own water bottles, food and most importantly left NO TRASH! So this message is to all the travelers who’ve planned to visit this place; please bring back your trash and help keep the trail clean. #hiking #leavenotrash #nolitering
