Manifesto

NepaliTravellers is a travel community by and for all who identify themselves as Nepalis.

  • We create and publish travel content that are intimate and localized, within Nepal and beyond.
  • We organize events and grants to facilitate travel plans that are substantial in their intent and experience.

Our core beliefs:

TRAVELLERS ARE A COMMUNITY IN MOTION.

Who is a Nepali? There’s no clear answer, and is there any need for one? Opinions will draw from diverse perspectives of politics, geography, society, culture, history, and diaspora, and we welcome them all.

At NepaliTravellers, as we travel, we encourage these questions of personal identities to engage our individual sense of place and belonging.

TRAVELLING IS STORY-TELLING.

Traveling is, in essence, storytelling. We travel to encounter stories.  And, these encounters are fueled by others’ stories of learning, curiosity, and discovery. The funny thing about storytelling is that we are more likely to be inspired and visualize ourselves in stories the more we relate with storytellers.

As a travel community of peers, we inspire each other through our own adventures and shared intentions.

TRAVELLING IS STEPPING FORWARD, LOOKING INWARD.

We need more Nepalis to backpack at home and beyond, more Nepalis to walk between villages outside ‘trekking routes,’ and more Nepalis to live in places they surprisingly call home. The more all this happens, more Nepalis will forge their own travel paths.

We also need to recognize more as travelers those Nepalis who labor abroad, pilgrimage to remote locations, and migrate between seasons. The more all this happens, more Nepalis will be inspired to search within.

With its online reach and immersive travels, the team at NepaliTravellers will uncover these unconventional travelers to challenge perceptions of how people travel.

TRAVEL IS AN ATTITUDE.

Travel is an openness to learn and a willingness to be challenged. Travel is the means and the end to awareness of self. Travel is to unravel oneself. Travel is inherently introspective. Simply put, Travel Is An Attitude!

NepaliTravellers cultivates the travel attitude by challenging our community to embrace vulnerability and invite uncertainty wherever they are.
